Description: The Company and the Role:
Chef de Partie part time opportunity with a local Hotel and Restaurant. Supporting the Head Chef and Hotel with Breakfast, Lunchtime and Dinner services, based in central Southampton. Guaranteed part time hours per week, (negotiable 16 – 20 hours). The role is permanent.
Looking for a kitchen professional who will be able to support the Hotel Head Chef in a part time capacity.
The Hotel restaurant completes 40 covers per day and roughly 75 covers per day over the weekend.
The main service you will cover will be Breakfast service, however you may also be required for either Lunch or Dinner service, working roughly 3 to 4 days per week.
The Hotel needs a reliable and can do attitude that is either looking for guaranteed part time hours per week as their main income or secondary job.
As a Chef de Partie you will be expected to be passionate about working with fresh ingredients.
Key Features of the Role:
You will take direction from the Head Chef or work autonomously, carrying out your everyday duties and responsibilities, (including food preparation, cooking, kitchen porter etc.)
The Hotel also hosts corporate conferences, private and wedding event functions.
Shifts can vary due to the Hotel’s needs and could offer more than 16-20 hours per week during busier times. Earliest start time is 6:00 to carry out food preparation. Restaurant opens from 7:00 till 9:30 (weekends 8:00 till 10:00). Lunch service opening times are 12:00 till 14:00 and Dinner service times are 18:00 till 21:00.
The restaurant has recently been taken over by new owners and they are looking to implement more creative changes to their menu items. As well as introducing fresh food produce so they can make their mark, and they want you to be part of that impetuous.
Menu items, influences and specials will be your ownership and responsibility. However you will need to make sure all menu items you want to push are fully costed.
Knowledge and Skills:
You must have worked in a Brigade or kitchen with experience of fresh food preparation, working with a range of menu items and influences.
The Company is looking for a Chef de Partie or Senior CDP who has worked their way through the levels of a Brigade and who has attained a similar level of kitchen experience.
Catering qualifications and training would be ideal, but are not essential, as long as employment tenures show career development and learning.
You must be able to communicate respectfully and work in a positive manner. As well as pushing new creative ideas and that will help the Hotel and you to make its mark.
Food preparation, monitoring stock and wastage, ensuring dating and labelling of produce. Someone who is comfortable in the kitchen on their own and can work either with or without direction.
What’s on Offer?
Hourly rate £8.50.
Part time hours ranging from 16 – 20 per week guaranteed per week.
