General Manager for independent, successful Bar/Restaurant - Clifford Brown's

Description: We are looking for an experienced General Manager to head up our small but lively Front of House team. With approximately 70 covers in the restaurant and bar, with additional seating outside in the summer, we require a dedicated, hard-working individual who can really capture our ethos and develop our brand.

Clifford Brown’s Brasserie is situated in the centre of a beautiful village, and is housed within the ground floor of the Chapel; part of the old Knowle Hospital buildings. With a Victorian Industrial vibe, we offer exceptional food that is locally sourced and uses seasonal ingredients. All of our food is made on site daily by our team of experienced chefs, and our menus change regularly.

This is an exciting opportunity for the right person to join our team at the beginning of an excellent new offering. We’ve been open for ten months and are currently number one on TripAdvisor…
We require somebody to join our small team who is a real foodie, and has a great knowledge of food and wine pairing. We would love someone who has a natural confidence with customers, a keen eye for detail and an ability to get the most out of staff.

You will need to have excellent communication skills with strong spoken and written English. You will ideally need to be a Personal Licence Holder, and Cellar Management and Sommelier qualifications would be desirable but not essential. We offer a full training package. We are looking for a passionate individual with excellent leadership skills. Own transport required as the bus routes to the village are intermittent.

Responsibilities:
-Delivering outstanding customer service.
-Heading up a small team of floor and bar staff. Staff development.
-Running the daily operation of the bar/restaurant, including stock taking, cashing up, ordering and week-end reconciliation.
-Effectively communicating with the Kitchen team and particularly the Head Chef to ensure all services run smoothly.
-Updating social media channels on a regular basis, and completing general admin work where required.
-Preparing staff rotas.
-Developing new promotional ideas and liaising with the Head Chef to develop the wine list alongside the seasonal menus.
-Strengthening our links with the local community, charity and our suppliers (both independently and through our relationship with Hampshire Fare).

For the right person, we are offering:
-48 hours per week with 5 days on/2 days off. Hours to be agreed with the right candidate.
-Additional training and qualifications
-5.6 weeks off per annum
