Description: Chef de Partie -The Goose & Gander country kitchen & Bar - Blackrod, Bolton

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our local family run pub The Goose & Gander country kitchen & Bar as a Chef de Partie. The kitchen is currently producing classic pub dishes entirely from scratch and there is a real focus on provenance of ingredients using our own locally reared pigs. You will be working alongside an award winning chef Head Chef & sous chef, preparing high quality fresh home cooked food from scratch, and will also provide cover for the sous chef in their absence and assist in ordering stock for the kitchen.

To be successful in this role you must work well under pressure and have previous experience in a similar role in a restaurant environment. You must have a Food Hygiene Certificate and a Health & Hygiene certificate and maintain a high level of personal and kitchen hygiene at all times.

This is a full time post working 5 days over 7 (potentially more at the height of the season)
45+ Hours per week -

Christmas/ New Year and functions hours will vary.

Salary £20,000/£21,000 pa

Plus tips+bonus

Own transportation is essential due to location, but there is a small train station at Blackrod about 2miles away this is the Manchester-Blackpool north line

N.B There is also scope for this position to develop to a sous chef role over the next 12-18 months.:

Duties and Responsibilities

-Working with the Head Chef and the kitchen team to maintain high standards in the quality of food both as to its preparation and its presentation

-Working in all areas of the kitchen depending on the daily needs of Head Chef Preparation of a whole range of food but with a particular emphasis on pastry

-To observe all Company Food Hygiene and Health and Safety policy

-To assist the Head Chef, to check the completeness of all food and kitchen equipment sent to each function

-To assist the Head Chef to check the completeness of all suppliers’ deliveries and the correctness of their invoices

-To set out, maintain and monitor high standards of cooking and presentation

-To be aware of current food trends with regard to presentation and style and help with new menu ideas and menu design

-Ensuring Unit kitchen is left clean and tidy at all times

-Ensuring that all completed food is correctly wrapped, labeled and put in out-fridge for each event

-To ensure that all completed jobs are fully checked off before it leaves the unit

N.B There is also scope for this position to develop to a sous chef role over the next 12-18 months.
